This package includes an HDMI cable, cat-5 cable, remote control, mouse, 1TB DVR, and 8 High-Res Cameras. There's also a CD with additional instructions(in addition to a paper manual with basic instructions). Installing the unit and getting it to run isn't too difficult. The cameras have 'night vision' and can see in the pretty clear in the dark. If you need something quick to setup, this is a wonderful basic camera system. I am impressed by the easy installation and ease of use, which anyone can do blindfolded with hands tied. When you have more time to configure a more advanced system, I like using separate components -- use high quality IP network cameras (Panasonic, Canon, Axis, etc.) along with the Milestone XProtect software running on a computer as the DVR. I've been very happy with Milestone XProtect based system since the configuration possibilities, compatibility with all different kinds of cameras, potential recording drive space, etc. are amazing. The choice is analogous to having a TV with built-in speakers, vs. a home theater system with a separate TV, separate amplifier, and separate speakers that you choose somewhat independently from each other, but they're all still compatible. The Q-See is an all-in-one solution that is a great timesaver. Honestly I have no complains about this setup, the cameras work great at day and night, the unit its small so it doesn't take a lot of physical space. The GUI is kind of different to what you are used to if you never had a surveillance system but the setup is clear and the included instructions help you to get to understand the graphical interface. Great Picture, easy to install and set up, would buy again, got it in five days, not the three weeks as it says it would take to be delivered. Very good night vision as well, seems to be of decent enough quality. You don't have to be a computer expert to set this up, the hardest thing is running the wires in the attic, but that was pretty easy as well. UPDATE: got around to installing the software so I could monitor the system on my Surface Tablet(Windows 8.1)only to find out there is no app for Windows, so if this is important to you, which I am sure it is to a lot of people, you might want to go with another brand.I tried there customer support, only to be told I can't do this with Windows, only Ipad, and Android Apps are available at this time.
